Living in Bukit Panjang

A greener west-side town with MRT and LRT stations, food centres, nature parks and walking routes.

Bukit Panjang is a heartland town with nature parks, older blocks and newer housing. Some parts are hilly or far from the MRT.

Getting around

Bukit Panjang MRT station is on the Downtown Line. The records list 10 MRT or LRT stations and 102 bus stops. LTA describes the LRT as a feeder for Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang. LRT renewal works are under way, so check service notices if you depend on it.

The town is close to the KJE and Upper Bukit Timah Road, which can bring traffic noise.

Food and markets

The records list Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre and Senja Hawker Centre, along with 14 coffee shops, 4 food courts and 14 supermarkets. Check the route from the block if you want a sheltered walk for food shopping.

Health care

The records list Bukit Panjang Polyclinic and Senja Nursing Home in the town, plus 8 clinics or other healthcare places. There is no hospital in the town records. St. Luke's Hospital is the nearest listed hospital outside the town. Check the route from the block.

Parks and places to walk

The records list Zhenghua Nature Park, Dairy Farm Nature Park, Hindhede Nature Park and Rifle Range Nature Park. They also list seven park connectors, including Bukit Panjang Park Connector and Dairy Farm PC. Access can involve slopes, roads and longer walks, so test the route at a comfortable pace.

The flats

Bukit Panjang public housing expanded mainly after rural settlements and farmland gave way to the town in the 1980s. Resale blocks vary by neighbourhood and age. Check lift stops, sheltered paths, LRT noise, bus distance and HIP history. Blocks near the transport hub may have more activity.

What is changing

The Bukit Panjang LRT is being renewed, including trains, tracks and signalling. This may affect service patterns while the work continues.

Who it suits

Bukit Panjang suits a buyer who values MRT and LRT access, healthcare nearby and access to nature. It is less suitable for someone who wants a completely level route or a quiet estate without transport works. Check LRT frequency, slopes and construction notices before choosing a block.
