Living in Bukit Batok

A west-side town with three MRT stations, food options and quarry parks. New housing and nature work will change parts of the town.

Bukit Batok is a west-side HDB town with older resale blocks, newer housing and green spaces formed around former quarries. A viewing should include the full walk to transport and shops.

Getting around

The records list Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak and Hume MRT stations, plus 166 bus stops. Bukit Batok West is a planned station with no date stated. Some routes cross broad roads or hills. Road noise varies sharply between blocks.

Food and markets

The records list Bukit Batok West Hawker Centre, 35 coffee shops, 2 food courts and 18 supermarkets. Check the food route if you need a sheltered walk or prefer to avoid slopes.

Health care

Bukit Batok Polyclinic and St. Luke's Hospital are in the town. The records also list Ng Teng Fong General Hospital outside the town and 9 clinics or other healthcare places. The journey depends on the block and bus connection, so measure it at the time you expect to travel.

Parks and places to walk

The records list Bukit Batok Town Park, Bukit Batok Nature Park and Bukit Gombak Park, along with 10 park connectors. Bukit Batok East Park Connector and Bukit Batok West Park Connector are among them. Test the slopes before choosing a block.

The flats

The town includes older estates, newer projects and Harmony Village Community Care Apartments, completed in 2024. Inspect lift stops, sheltered access, corridor condition and traffic. Ask for the HIP and estate-upgrading history. Newer blocks may be farther from the town centre or near construction.

What is changing

HDB is planning housing near Bukit Batok Hillside Park and has retained the natural stream and catchment area within the planned park. Bukit Batok N3 is also planned for redevelopment with more housing and ecological connections between Tengah Forest and Bukit Gombak Park. The Bukit Batok Driving Centre is due to be phased out by December 2030 as the area is redeveloped for housing. These changes may bring homes and amenities, but also construction and future traffic.

Who it suits

Bukit Batok suits a buyer who wants MRT access, practical markets and nearby quarry parks. It is less suitable for someone who wants flat walking routes everywhere or no future construction. Buyers should compare the central and northern parts separately, rather than treating the town as one uniform area.
